Using Scan Tool

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector No. 3 (DLC3). See Figure. Turn ignition and scan tool on. Using scan tool manufacturer's instructions, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and freeze frame data.
  2. If scan tool is able to connect and communicate with vehicle, go to next step. If scan tool displays UNABLE TO CONNECT TO VEHICLE, try scan tool on another vehicle. If scan tool still displays UNABLE TO CONNECT TO VEHICLE, check for defective scan tool. If scan tool operates correctly on another vehicle, check for proper voltage and resistance at DLC3. See DLC NO. 3 SPECIFICATIONS  table. If voltage or resistance is not within specification, check wiring to DLC3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
