Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Inspection

Check that resistance between terminals "1" and "2" varies depending on engine coolant temperature.
If faulty condition is found, replace ECT sensor.

ECT sensor resistance
-20 °C (-4 °F): 14.1 - 16.8 kohms
20 °C (68 °F): 2.35 - 2.65 kohms
80 °C (176 °F): 0.313 - 0.332 kohms
