Front Vehicle Speed Sensor: Removal

  1. Set up the vehicle on the lift.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

  3. Remove air cleaner case. refer to REMOVAL under AIR CLEANER CASE .
  4. Disconnect transmission connector.

  5. Remove the transmission connector from stay.
  6. Lift-up the vehicle.
  7. Clean transmission exterior.
  8. Drain ATF completely.
    NOTE: Tighten ATF drain plug after draining ATF.

    Tightening torque:  25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.1 ft-lb)

  9. Remove front, center, rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Refer to REMOVAL under FRONT EXHAUST PIPE , REAR EXHAUST PIPE and MUFFLER .
  10. Remove the shield cover.
  11. Remove the propeller shaft.
  12. Place transmission jack under crossmember.
    CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the support plates of transmission jack don't touch the crossmember.
  13. Remove the transmission rear crossmember bolts.

  14. Lower the AT jack.
    NOTE: Do not separate the AT jack and transmission.
  15. Remove the oil cooler outlet pipe.
    CAUTION: When removing outlet pipe, be careful not to lose balls and springs used with retaining screws.
  16. Remove front and rear vehicle speed sensor and torque converter turbine speed sensor.
    • Front vehicle speed sensor and torque converter turbine speed sensor

    • Rear vehicle speed sensor

  17. Remove oil pan.
  18. Disconnect duty solenoids and ATF temperature sensor connectors. Remove connectors from clip and disconnect connectors.

  19. Remove harness assembly.
