Engine Starting

Description

When the engine is started, signals are sent to the injectors twice during each engine revolution. At temperatures down to 14°C, this continues until the engine reaches a speed of 480 rpm, at temperatures down to -40°C until it reaches a speed of 675 rpm, and at temperatures below -40°C until engine speed is 800 rpm. Above the engine speeds the injectors are activated once per engine revolution.

On cars equipped with the LH 2.4 system and a cold-starting valve, the control module sends signals to the injectors twice per engine revolution. However, the control module reduces the amount of fuel injected by the injectors.

A cold-starting kit consisting of a cold-starting valve, wiring harness and mounting components is available for particularly cold markets.
