Distributor: Description and Operation

The distributor is mounted on the front of the engine and driven by the camshaft. The unit functions only as a means to distribute spark to the appropriate cylinders. All signal generation is done by the bellhousing mounted engine speed sensor and reference mark sensor. Spark advance is controlled by the DME unit based on engine speed, load and coolant temperature.
