Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The neutral park position switch, detects whether the transmission is positioned in park or neutral. The engine control module monitors the automatic transmission load and operates the idle air control motor to maintain optimum idle speed.
