Ground Plate Disconnection/Connection
- Switch the ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)] .)
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove the following parts.
- Tunnel cover (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN 7/VIN L] .)
- Gusset (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)] .)
- Floor under cover No. 1 (RH) (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Open the terminal cover (negative side).
- Remove the nut and bolt shown in the figure and remove the ground plate.
- Open the terminal cover (positive side).
- Verify that the generation of voltage does not occur using a tester.
- If voltage is applied, go to the next step being careful not to cause a short circuit.
- Close the terminal cover (negative side).
- Remove the nut shown in the figure and disconnect the positive terminal.
- Close the terminal cover using the following procedure.
- Connect in the reverse order of disconnection.
