Repair Procedures: Inspection
Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Level Check
- Shut off the high voltage circuit.
(Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUTOFF PROCEDURE ")
- Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.
(Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")
- Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly.
(Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT ")
- Add 0.7 liters of ATF SP-IV through the ATF filler hole after removing the eyebolt (A).
- Start the engine to warm up the ATF.NOTE: Do not step on the brake and accelerator simultaneously to warm up the ATF.
- Check by using KDS/GDS that the temperature of the ATF is between 50°C and 60°C (122-140°F).
- Move the shift lever slowly from "P" to "D", then back to "P". Repeat this sequence a total of two times and then move the shift lever to "P" range.NOTE: Pause in each range for more than 2 seconds.
- Lift the vehicle and remove the ATF level check plug (A) from the valve body cover.NOTE: When removing the ATF level plug, keep the vehicle on a level ground.
- Check the ATF level.
Normal: ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
Excessive (abnormal): Over 0.9 liters of ATF flows out for 2 minutes.
Insufficient (abnormal): There is no fluid flow.
NOTE: If the ATF level is too high or low, follow the instructions below.- Excessive: Drain until the ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
- Insufficient: Add until the ATF flows out in a thin oil stream.
- Install the ATF level check plug (A).NOTE: The existing ATF level plug O-ring must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.)
- Install the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Install the eyebolt (A).
Tightening Torque:
4.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 - 4.3 lb.ft)
NOTE: The existing eyebolt O-ring must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.) - Install the hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly.
(Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT ")
- Install the air cleaner assembly and air duct.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Refill the hybrid motor cooling system with coolant and then perform the air bleeding using the KDS/GDS.
(Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")
- Connect the high voltage circuit.
(Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUTOFF PROCEDURE ")
