Removal & Installation
- The PCM is located on the cowl panel in right/rear side of engine compartment. To avoid possible voltage spike damage to PCM, ignition key must be off and negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging PCM connectors. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery. Remove Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped.
- Remove coolant reserve/overflow tank. Remove cover over electrical connectors. Cover snaps onto PCM.
- Carefully unplug three 32-way, connectors at PCM. Remove three PCM bracket-to-body-mounting nuts. Remove PCM and bracket assembly from vehicle. Remove 3 PCM-to-PCM bracket bolts.
- Check pins in three 32-way electrical connectors for damage. Repair as necessary. Install PCM to its mounting bracket. Tighten three mounting bolts. Install PCM and bracket assembly to body. Install and tighten 3 nuts.
- Install three 32-way connectors. Install cover over electrical connectors. Install coolant reserve/overflow tank. Install Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped.
- Connect negative cable to battery. Use the DRBIII(R) scan tool to reprogram new PCM.
