Radiator Fan Does Not Operate
- Check IGN fuse, ECU-IGN fuse and A/C fuse. If radiator fan does not run, remove fuse and relay box from inner fender. Remove lower inspection cover from fuse and relay box. Disconnect connector C6 from fuse and relay box. See Figure or Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If fan does not run, go to next step. If fan runs, check Light Green/Black and Light Green wires between fan No. 1 relay and fan thermoswitch for short to ground.
- If fan does not run in step 10, backprobe fuse and relay box connector C1, terminal No. 4 (Blue/Black wire), with test light connected to battery voltage. Figure or Figure . If test light does not glow, go to next step. If test light glows, repair short to ground in Blue/Black wire between A/C fan No. 2 relay connector and fuse and relay box.
- Backprobe fuse and relay box connector C3, terminal No. 6 (Black/Yellow wire), with test light connected to ground. Figure or Figure . If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, backprobe junction block No. 3 (behind center of instrument panel) connector C3 (White connector) terminal No. 17 (Black/Yellow wire). If test light does not glow, check for an open in Black/Yellow wire between fuse and relay box and junction block No. 3. If test light glows, check for an open in Black/Yellow wire between junction block No. 1 and junction block No. 3. If wiring is okay, replace junction block No. 1.
- Backprobe fuse and relay box connector C1, terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire), with test light connected to battery voltage. Figure or Figure . If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, repair open or poor connection in White/Black wire between fuse and relay box and chassis ground point G102 (behind left headlight).
- Turn ignition off. Remove engine main relay from fuse and relay box. Connect a fused jumper from engine main relay connector terminal No. 4 to terminal No. 5. Figure or Figure . Turn ignition on. If fan motor still does not run, go to next step. If fan motor starts to run, inspect fuse and relay box connections. If fuse and connections are okay, replace engine main relay.
- Turn ignition off. Remove fused jumper from engine main relay connector and reinstall relay. Remove fan No. 1 relay. Connect a fused jumper from fan No. 1 relay connector terminal No. 3 to terminal No. 4. Figure or Figure . Turn ignition on. If fan motor still does not run, go to next step. If fan motor starts to run, inspect fuse and relay box connections. If fuse and connections are okay, replace fan No. 1 relay.
- Turn ignition off. Remove fused jumper from fan relay connector. Reinstall fan No. 1 relay. Backprobe radiator fan motor connector terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire), with a test light connected to battery voltage. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for open in White/Black wire between radiator fan motor and fuse and relay box. If White/Black wire is okay, replace fuse and relay box.
- With fused jumper connected to battery positive, backprobe radiator fan motor connector terminal No. 2 (Blue wire). If radiator fan motor does not run, replace fan motor. If radiator fan motor runs, check for open in Black/Red wire between radiator fan motor and fuse and relay box. If Black/Red wire is okay, replace fuse and relay box.
