Cooling Module: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding  .
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. Remove the LH and the RH front fenders. Refer to: Fender .
  4. Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to: Front Bumper Cover .
  5. Remove the washer reservoir. Refer to: Windshield Washer Reservoir .
    • Disconnect the hood ajar switch electrical connector.

    • Detach the hood latch release cable from the mounting bracket.

    • Detach latch cable harness retainers and disconnect the hood latch release cable eyelet from the hood latch.

  6. Remove the chimney grills.

  7. Detach the wiring harness retainers and disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.

  8. Remove the rear outlet duct bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the coolant tube grommet.

    • Remove the nuts, bolts and the outlet duct.

      Torque: Nuts: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm) Bolts: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    • Detach the coolant tube retainers.

    • NOTE: Tighten the fitting to the torque specified or 2 additional flats from finger tight.

      Loosen and disconnect the radiator to coolant tube fitting and position aside.

      Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  9. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings. Discard the O-ring seals and gasket seals.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  10. NOTE: The coolant hoses are disconnected during cooling module removal.

    Loosen the coolant hose clamps.

  11. Remove the nuts and the cooling module.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
