b When replacing pistons, measure the cylinder bore as described in the applicable procedures at Engine; Service and Repair. Install the indicated service piston.

TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS





Note: The "V" notch in the head gasket faces the front of the engine.





Install the bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts in five stages in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Loosen the bolts one full turn.
^ Stage 3: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 4: Rotate an additional 85-95 degrees.
^ Stage 5: Rotate an additional 85-95 degrees.
