Clutch Switch: Description and Operation



The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) sends out a 5 volt reference to the clutch engage switch. When the switch is OPEN (clutch DEPRESSED), the ECA senses this voltage. When the switch is CLOSED (clutch RELEASED), the ECA senses no voltage. The ECA uses this input to determine engine load and to adjust idle speed accordingly.
