Catalyst Replacement

CATALYST REPLACEMENT

Removal

1. Raise vehicle.





2. Refer to Figure 1. Remove two nuts retaining the muffler assembly inlet flange to the catalyst/ resonator outlet flange.

3. Disengage muffler inlet flange from catalyst/resonator outlet flange studs.

4. Remove LH catalyst shield retaining screws.

5. Remove four nuts retaining catalyst/resonator assembly pipe flanges to the exhaust manifold.

6. Slide catalyst/resonator assembly rearward to disengage hanger rods from hanger insulators. Remove catalyst/resonator assembly.


Installation

1. Engage hanger rods of catalyst/resonator assembly with hanger mount insulators. Slide catalyst/ resonator assembly forward.

2. Position catalyst/resonator inlet pipe flanges to exhaust manifolds and install new retaining nuts. Do not tighten nuts.

3. Align catalyst/resonator assembly.

4. Tighten all manifold nuts to 21-32 N-m (16-24 lb.ft.).

5. Position LH catalyst shield and tighten retaining screws to 11-16 N-m (8-12 lb.ft.).

6. With muffler assembly supported by hangers, install inlet flange over catalyst/resonator outlet flange studs. Install, but do not tighten retaining nuts.

7. Align muffler assembly.

8. Tighten flange nuts to 27-40 N-m (20-30 lb.ft.).
