Barometric Pressure Sensor: Description and Operation

The barometric pressure (BP) sensor, Fig. 1, is used to sense changes in barometric pressure, allowing the electronic control assembly (ECA) to sense the altitude at which the vehicle is operating. The signal from the barometric pressure sensor affects, air/fuel ratio and engine idle speed. The barometric pressure sensor is located on the firewall near the main power relays.
