Test 57A - Turn Signal On

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
NOTE: BCM sends message after sensing turn signal on for .6 mile.
  1. Check turn signal operation. If turn signals do not operate properly, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If turn signals operate properly and EVIC panel does not display TURN SIGNAL ON, go to TEST 57B. If turn signals operate properly and EVIC panel displays TURN SIGNAL ON, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read turn signal lever switch status. Ensure turn signal lever is off. If scan tool displays CIRCUIT OPEN, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If scan tool does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Black connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Black connector terminal No. 15 (Light Green wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair Light Green wire for short to voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Turn ignition off. Check voltage on BCM Natural connector terminal No. 7 (Tan wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair Tan wire for short to voltage. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace BCM.
