Test 44C - Left Headlight Out

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn engine off. Inspect fuse No. 4 in fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, disconnect light outage module 14-pin connector. See Figure . Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector.
  2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire and replace fuse No. 4. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect left headlight connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  3. Check resistance on terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/White wire and replace fuse No. 4. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace light outage module and fuse No. 4. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If fuse No. 4 was okay in step 1), disconnect left low beam headlight connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between terminal No. 1 (Violet wire) and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) of left low beam headlight connector.
  5. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace left low beam headlight. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Check voltage on terminal No. 1 (Violet wire) of left low beam headlight connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If voltage is less than 10 volts, access light outage module. See Figure . Backprobe terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, reinstall left low beam headlight connector.
  7. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire) and terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. DO NOT  disconnect light outage module connector. Check left headlight. If left headlight is on, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If left headlight is off, remove fuse No. 4 from fuse block.
  8. Check voltage of Violet/White wire terminal (in fuse block) of fuse No. 4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
