Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Use a T30 TORX® in order to install the screws to the steering wheel inflator module.
Tighten: Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Rotate the steering wheel 1/2 turn in order to center the steering wheel.
- Position the steering wheel inflator module to the steering wheel.
- Rotate the horn contact lead (2) clockwise 1/4 turn in order to install the horn contact lead to the steering column shaft tower.
- Connect the horn ground lead to the steering wheel.
- Connect the yellow SIR electrical connector to the steering wheel inflator module.
- Install the CPA to the yellow SIR electrical connector.
- Align the inflator module screws with the openings on the steering wheel.
- Install the inflator module to the steering wheel by firmly pressing into place until fully seated.
- Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
IMPORTANT:
Do not install the steering wheel inflator module to the steering wheel at this time.
IMPORTANT:
Route the wiring harnesses correctly.
