Code A015, Enable Relay Contacts Shorted To Battery: Notes

Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. 5 of enable relay. EBCM energizes enable relay pull-in coil by completing ground circuit at EBCM terminal No. 22. The magnetic field created will close enable relay contacts to supply battery voltage to EBCM, providing power to motors and solenoids.

This code determines if enable relay is energized when required. Fault Code A015 prevents enable relay from removing power from ABS system. If a second fault occurs and turns enable relay off, fault cannot be removed if relay cannot be controlled.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Determines if EBCM is capable of controlling enable relay.
  2. Checks for short to battery voltage in circuit No. 850 (Red/White wire).
  3. Checks if EBCM and circuit No. 879 (Purple/White wire) are shorted to ground. A short to ground in either circuit causes enable relay to be continuously energized.
