Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. Use RKE system in conjunction with a door lock key. Radio frequencies or discharged batteries may disable system. RKE is operated by these following components:

Door Locks.
Rear Compartment Lid Release.
Illuminated Entry Lights.
Fuel Door Release.

RKE system has these following main components:

Remote Transmitters.
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).

When a button is pressed on remote transmitter, it sends a signal to RCDLR. RCDLR interprets signal and activates requested function through a class 2 message over serial data line.

To unlock driver's door only, momentarily press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter in order to perform these following functions:

Unlock driver's door only.
Illuminate interior lights for 20 seconds or until ignition switch is turned to RUN position.
Disarm Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system (if equipped).
Deactivate CTD system when in Alarm Mode.

To unlock all doors, momentarily press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter a second time (within 4 seconds of first press) in order to perform these following functions:

Unlock remaining doors.
Illuminate interior lights for 20 seconds or until ignition switch is turned to RUN position.
Chirp horn.

To lock all doors, press LOCK button on remote transmitter to perform these following functions:

Lock all doors.
Immediately turn off interior lights.
Flash exterior lights.
Chirp horn.
Arm Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system.
