Removal & Installation: Solenoid: Removal

  1. Bleed high pressure from maintenance bleeder screw. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Without removing pump inlet line, remove brake fluid from modulator reservoir. Remove reservoir strainer. See Fig 1 .

  2. Remove 2 screws from inside of modulator reservoir, and remove reservoir. Screw 6-mm bolt into center of solenoid head. Tighten bolt until solenoid head can be lifted off solenoids. Lift solenoid head, and set it aside without disconnecting pump inlet line.
  3. Remove solenoid set plate bolts and loosen solenoid set plate. Turn solenoid valves several times, freeing valves in bore. Turn solenoids 1/2 turn to align solenoid tab with cutout in set plate. Remove solenoid valves as an assembly with set plate.
  4. Each solenoid is marked to match mark on solenoid set plate. Solenoids are not interchangeable. If solenoid is being replaced, ensure new solenoid has same marking as solenoid being replaced.
